History could be made on Thursday night if one lucky Lotto player wins the entire $150 million Powerball.

West Aussies are encouraged to purchase tickets early to avoid crowds and for their chance to take home the whopping amount, which would be the largest Australian Lottery prize on record for an individual player.

Thursday’s jackpot comes after seven weeks of no division one winners, causing the prize to roll over to a hefty $150 million.

Lotterywest chief executive Colin Smith is expecting ticket sales to peak in the final hours leading up to the draw.

“We are expecting the busiest time for ticket sales to be between 4pm and 5pm this afternoon with more than 1200 to be sold each minute,” he said.

“For the past seven weeks, no ticket across the country has claimed a division one Powerball prize, which has seen the jackpot roll into a $150 million prize.

“This has been great news for the WA community, with this jackpot run raising more than $18 million through Lotterywest’s grants program.”

The last time the Powerball offered $150 million was January 25. The draw was not won, causing it to soar to a whopping $200 million.

Six Powerball division one winners have pocketed more than $270 million across Australia so far in 2024.

A Perth mother recently came forward to claim her $1.6 million Saturday Lotto win after playing the same numbers for 25 years.

“I’ve been playing the same numbers for years but when I saw the numbers that were called, I didn’t believe it, I had to check,” the Beechboro woman said.

Tickets for Thursday’s jackpot are available to buy until 6pm in-store, online or via the Lotterywest App.
