Iconic 80s musical CATS celebrated the 40th anniversary of its Australian tour in Perth on Thursday night, where several famous faces were seen among the crowd, excited to see the beloved production.

Excitement bubbled away in the theatre foyer as fans couldn’t wait to witness popular songs come alive on stage, with most getting glammed up for the occasion and some accessorising with cat ears.

The season at Crown Theatre Perth invites audiences to immerse themselves in a junkyard-set fantasy world of ‘cattitude’ that first captivated theatregoers in 1981 with its timeless musical score and challenging dances.

While CATS, based on T.S. Eliot’s Old Possum’s Book Of Practical Cats poems, is regarded as a full ensemble production, the goosebump-inducing heights Gabriyel Thomas hits in her performance as Grizabella — the former glamour cat ostracised by the others — during the musical’s iconic song Memory is the ultimate showstopper.
