Snack at the shack at the legendary Vodi Point surf break in Maldives

The Vodi Point waves break in the Maldives is the stuff of legend.
Surf pros from around the world have long been drawn here.
Some waves break right on shore, and others are reached in a few minutes by speedboat.
In the south of the Maldives, where the swells are most powerful, those in the know camp here during peak season.
And now, resort group Niyama has unveiled its new Surf Shack, a stylish hangout right by it.
Niyama Private Islands Maldives’ The Surf Shack offers offering gourmet bites, drinks, epic sunsets … and is promising “legendary parties”.
“The new Surf Shack is part of the new, evolved Niyama experience, with total refurbishment of the resort’s many facilities, imaginative new culinary experiences, and an active lifestyle and wellness brought to the fore,” says Hafidh Al Busaidy, general manager of Niyama Private Islands Maldives.
The thatched-roof Surf Shack has seating on an upper deck — an ideal spot for watching the sun set. There are picnic tables below.
And Michael Patrick Slevin, area chief of engineering for Niyama, says 75 per cent of construction materials have been repurposed.

THE FOOD
The Surf Shack has a menu inspired by the world’s best surfie destinations — Australian fish and chips, Indonesian satay, Mexican nachos and Japanese takoyaki.
+ Drinks are an ode to all things rum, with a connoisseur’s collection and signature cocktails inspired by world-famous breaks.
+ Laidback by day, the beachfront comes alive at sunset and a DJ amps up the beats.
+ There is a Surf Centre with equipment.
+ Drift by Niyama has recovery packages to attend to aching muscles and repair exposed skin.
+ Resident pro surfers can advise on wave conditions and technique.
