AFL: West Coast had lost five straight games - and had not beaten Brisbane since before the club’s premiership triumph.

And they couldn’t change the trend on Saturday night.

Recap all the action below.

That’s all folks

That wraps up a mega Saturday of WA footy.

Fremantle got the job done against the Power while the Eagles fell to the class of the reigning premiers.

Attention now turns to Friday’s western derby and The West Australian will have all angles covered across the week!

Reid concern

There’s a chance Harley Reid will miss Friday’s western derby.

MATCH REPORT

West Coast’s game got a fitting July audit by the best in the business, and while they couldn’t overcome a powerhouse Brisbane, the 24-point defeat proved they’re on the right path to success.

THREE-WORD ANALYSIS

West Coast hung tough for an impressive amount of time, but ultimately succumbed to two-time reigning premier Brisbane in a 24-point defeat.

The Eagles did well to take it up to the Lions for most of the game but the reigning premiers have too much class.

But at the end of the day, the Eagles can blame themselves, their skill errors and stupid 50-metre penalties are the main cause of their defeat.

They will be counting the cost as well with Hutchinson going down with a hamstring in the opening minute and Reid playing through a painful ankle injury.

He was still one of their best.

The Eagles’ two mid-season draftees, Herbert and Francou, were their leading ball winners with both cacthing the eye.

Neale and Will Ashcroft were not paid enough attention and were devastating around the ball for Brisbane.

Great efforts

Young went step for step with Cameron in a sprint back to open goal and forced the Lion to take the ball out of play in a stellar effort.

West Coast were then able to clear and Bo Allen caused a breakaway that results in a fourth for Waterman.

But Young gets all the credit for a fantastic chase.

Game.

Raynor gets a goal after Lions free kick.

Baker came from the side as Raynor waited for a chest mark and knocked the ball away but got him high in the follow through.

The Eagle will face some MRO scrutiny and will likely cop a ban.
