Match Report
Luke Ryan’s night
A late call-up after being dropped for the first time since 2021 and he made you wonder how he ever could have been left out.
Early analysis
Here’s the early look of how Freo won.
FULL TIME Fremantle 17.16 (118) Melbourne 10.10 (70)
Fremantle ease to a 48-point win over Melbourne off the back of huge nights from Andrew Brayshaw (39 touches) and Shai Bolton (2 goals, 32 touches, 9 clearances).
Despite a breif second quarter fightback Fremantle were just too strong across the park.
Luke Ryan made a seamless return, Treacy kicked four and Chris Scerri had a great debut.
Demons just didn’t have enought cattle outside of Max Gawn to challenge Freo through the middle.
Worner saves a goal
Kade Chandler is through on goal but Worner runs him down to save what would have been an easy goal.
Up the other end Jiath just runs too far in defensoive 50 and Switkowski has a shot but misses right.
Jackson with a late highlight
Flies for a strong contested mark over van Rooyen.
Converts to stop the Demons’ run of goals.
Voss continues his entertaining night.
Fritsch has another
Bad turnover from Fremantle who have just eased off in this quarter allowing Melbourne to win some ball.
Kick out of defence misses the target as the Demons turn it over at half forward and Fritsch snaps his second for the night.
A word on the debutant
Scerri has had some nice moments today and showed off he has pace to burn by running up the wing to tee up Voss who hits Brayshaw but misses.
Scerri’s had 18 touches four tackles and a behind and has looked more than comfortable at AFL level.
