A man has been tasered and arrested after allegedly threatening beachgoers with a large drill during a bizarre confrontation over a deck chair at a Florida beach.
Yacov Levi, 50, was taken into custody following the incident outside a luxury Surfside condominium, where properties can range from about $1.3 million to more than $27 million, according to local outlet WPLG.
Authorities said Levi became “irate” after he was told he could not sit on a beach chair belonging to the private property because he did not live there.
The situation quickly escalated, with Levi allegedly stripping naked before he “charged” at beachgoers with an umbrella and later grabbing a large drill, reportedly yelling threats including “I’m going to kill you”.
Witnesses told the New York Post they saw him running along the waterfront carrying the tool, which is typically used to drill holes in the sand for umbrellas.
Police bodycam footage shows officers confronting Levi at gunpoint as he sat on one of the chairs that sparked the incident.
“We have him at gunpoint,” one officer is heard saying in the footage, before another warns: “Put your hands up, or you’re going to get tased.”
Officers then deployed a Taser to bring the situation under control.
According to court records reported by the Daily Mail, Levi has been charged with attempted aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, battery on a law enforcement officer and criminal mischief.
Footage of the incident has since circulated online, with some social media users claiming the tool seen was an auger rather than a traditional drill.
It is not the first time Levi has allegedly been involved in a strange beachfront incident.
He was previously arrested in 2023 for allegedly attempting to steal a jet ski while naked, though that case was later dropped, according to reports.
