Workshops, pop-up events and online subsidies are all on offer this month with the return of the City of Kwinana’s Community Safety Series.

The month-long series is designed to give Kwinana residents the knowledge and tools to feel safer and more connected in their community.

This year will build on the 2024 series’ success with a mix of workshops, information sessions and hands-on activities covering everything from home security and emergency preparedness to road safety, online safety and neighbourhood connection.

Mayor Peter Feasey said the series was a chance to pick up practical tips, hear from local experts, talk with police and discover simple ways to look out for one another while strengthening community spirit.

“This year, people can also take part in a survey to highlight the top three safety concerns in their suburb,” he said.

The Community Safety Series will include a disaster preparedness forum to help people ready themselves for bushfire season and other possible emergencies.

There will also be CCTV subsidies on offer, and Secure PL8 (complimentary anti-theft screws) available to prevent the theft of licence plates.

The series also coincides with the city’s Bike Festival running throughout the month, during which locals can attend bike safety workshops and obstacle courses, learn-to-ride sessions, fitness rides, and a community bike ride.

“Community safety is everyone’s responsibility, and it isn’t just about reducing crime on the streets,” Mr Feasey said.

“It’s about being ready for emergencies, keeping an eye out for another, improving road safety, and strengthening your home security.

“As a city, we are committed to improving people’s sense of security and safety.”
