A man who stole more than $13,000 in cash and goods from his employer will not be sentenced until next month after being given more time to pay back his ex-employer.

The man appeared in Rockingham Magistrate’s Court on Monday after previously pleading guilty to 31 counts of stealing as a servant and one count of gaining benefit by fraud.

On a previous court hearing, the court was told that between July and December last year, the man was working at a pawnbroker in Rockingham where he stole items on several occasions.

These included an electric guitar, two acoustic guitars, and tools worth $1500, among others.

He was due to be sentenced this week, but this was delayed for another month to allow him to finish paying back his ex-employer.

The court was told he was looking into getting money out of his superannuation to do so.

Appearing in court in police custody after not reporting to police on two days last week, the man said he was “confident” he would be able to raise the funds within the next few weeks.

He will be sentenced next month.
