UGSHA 2025: Falcons defeat Eagles to take upper school boys title as AFGRI beat Byfields in girls event

The Upper Great Southern Hockey Association secondary schools’ hockey grand finals produced some entertaining games and a clutch of winners on June 19 on the Narrogin turf.
The upper schools boys title went to Falcons who defeated Eagles 3-1 in a fast encounter with the Falcons’ defenders dominant.
George Kilpatrick scored twice and Beau Flood once for Falcons, with the Eagles reply coming from Kyle Armstrong.
The secondary schools girls competition was won by AFGRI in a competitive contest against Byfields which was not reflected in the 3-1 scoreline.
Samantha Armstrong struck twice and Isobel Marciniac once for AFGRI.
Mariah Edwards scored for Byfields while both goalkeepers enjoyed stellar performances in a hard-fought match.

Lions defeated Cougars in the middle school boys event.
The nip-and-tuck contest finished 4-3 with Cougars on the wrong end of the seven-goal thriller despite a hat-trick from Kye Armstrong.
There was a hat-trick man in the Lions side, with Matthew George also grabbing three goals while Joel Hay was also on target.
Junior coordinator Evelyn Wilkie thanked her committee and senior players who took on roles as coaches and managers.
“It was great to see players develop their skills, confidence and playing network in a same-gender competition,” she said.
The rest of the season will be devoted to the mixed competition.
