Nett winners George and Riseborough make most of home advantage to take out Wagin Golf Club’s men’s open

Ken George and Jeff Riseborough made the most of home advantage to win Wagin Golf Club’s men’s open title, holding off 30 other pairs on June 22. They recorded the best nett score of 64 points, clinching the 27-hole, 4BBB Stableford competition on countback. On the same score were runners-up Ken Parker and Tecle Tewelde, from Katanning. The top two were only one point better off than Boddington’s Mark Turner and Rodger Wotherspoon, who gathered 63 points. Dumbleyung pair Mark Ball and Jamie Dare finished fourth on 62 points. Perth provided the gross winners in the form of Ryan Sheridan and Chris Rawes after their impressive 65 points, five clear of runners-up Ken Adams and Arron Quartermaine of Harrismith. On June 21, Wagin took on Bunbury’s Sanctuary Golf Resort, winning the coveted challenge shield. Wagin amassed a team score of 256 Stableford points, with Ryan Scardetta the top contributor with 38. That comfortably beat Sanctuary’s total of 175.
