Souchon’s dominance capped off with four goals against CBC

Norths’ perfect start in the Eastern Goldfields Hockey Association’s men’s A1 division was extended to three wins last weekend when Chris Souchon scored each of his side’s goals in a 4-2 triumph over CBC.

Souchon’s best-on-ground display and four goals came via a drag-flick, two in open play, and a penalty-corner variation.

His brilliance countered the work of Chris Connolly and Ryan O’Connor, who scored a goal apiece for CBC, who have opened the season with two wins, a draw and a loss.

Also in the division, goals by Clinton Hoare and Andrew Hoare led Pegasus’ 2-1 win against Mines.

Teammate Corrie Price was judged best on-ground, with John Bates Mines’ top performer in a losing effort.

In the women’s A1 division, Fiona Wakeman’s three goals highlighted Mines’ 4-0 victory over YMHC-Pegasus.

Emma McFall was the other scorer and joined Chelsea Square and Wakeman as the blue-and-whites’ best players.

Kate Bereth led the way for YMHC-Pegasus, and CBC edged out Norths in the other game, 2-1.

Last weekend’s men’s A2 fixtures included Brodie Lance’s three goals in Mines’ 5-0 win against Pegasus.

Week five matches start on Friday night at 6.30pm when CBC meet Mines in the women’s A1 division.

On Saturday, Norths play YMHC-Pegasus in the top women’s grade at 11.30am.
