Broome Senior High School forced into lockdown after teenage girl threatened classmate with scissors

A Broome school was forced into lockdown this week after a teenage girl threatened one of her classmates with a pair of scissors.

An altercation broke out between two 14-year-old female students at Broome Senior High School at about 11am on Wednesday, before one of the teenagers pulled out the scissors on the other.

A police spokeswoman said there were no injuries during the fight.

“School officials enacted lockdown processes and the student left the scene,” the spokeswoman said.

“This action ensured the safety of students and staff and nobody was injured.”

It comes as the Kimberley continues to be plagued by a wave of youth-related crime, which has included car theft and destruction, violent robberies and bashings.

Police have asked anyone with information in relation to the latest incident to contact Crimestoppers or Broome Police.
