The red carpet is being rolled out and the organisers of the 95th Oscars have their fingers crossed the star-studded affair will go off without a hitch — unlike last year — we’re looking at you, Will Smith.

Last year’s drama aside, Australians have secured 10 Oscar nominations this year, including eight-time Academy Award-nominee Cate Blanchett, who is favourite in the Best Actress category for her BAFTA and Golden Globe-winning performance in the psychological drama, Tár.

Baz Luhrmann’s Elvis is up for eight awards, including Best Picture, Best Actor, Best Costume Design, Best Production Design and Best Cinematography.

All the action from the red carpet kicks off from 5.30am on Monday on Channel Seven’s Sunrise with Sonia Kruger reporting live from the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood.

Best Picture winner announced

The moment we’ve all been waiting for...and the Oscar for Best Picture goes to Everything Everywhere All At Once.

If I can count, that makes seven wins for the film.

“One of the things that I realised growing up was one of the best things we can do for each other is shelter each other from the chaos from this crazy world we live in,” Daniel Kwan said.

Producer Jonathan Wang said the win “feels incredible”.

“There is no movie without our brilliant and bighearted cast and crew.

“But not just these beautiful souls here, also up there, and in little Tokyo, we see you. So this award is ours.

“I never thought I would get to say this, so I say it with one voice for all these people.

Thank you to the Academy, A24, thank you so much.

“You saw our weirdness and supported us for a year theatrically.”

John Travolta leads the In Memoriam segment

Fighting back tears the Grease actor shared a sweet tribute to his former co-star Olivia Newton-John while introducing Lenny Kravitz and the In Memoriam montage.

“Since tonight is a celebration of the work and accomplishments of our community this past year, it is only fitting that we celebrate those we lost, who dedicated their lives to their craft both in front of and behind the camera,” he said.

“Through their immeasurable contributions each of them left an individual mark that shared and informed us,” he continued as he visibly held back tears.

“They touched our hearts, they made us smile and became dear friends who we will always remain hopelessly devoted to.”

Among those in the industry who have passed in the last year were Olivia Newton-John, Kirstie Alley, Raquel Welch and many more.

Elvis, Tar and Banshees go home empty handed

I’m very bias because I am a big Baz fan, but surely I can’t be the only one that’s shocked Elvis missed out?
