A popular snack has been urgently pulled from shelves after the nation’s food watchdog raised the alarm over an undeclared allergen.

Food Standards Australia and New Zealand issued a recall warning for Kaisi Melbourne Pty Ltd Wu Xian Zhai Soybean Snacks Five Spice Flavour, Sauce Flavour and Spicy Flavour 108g on Tuesday.

The products, which are sold at Asian supermarkets across Victoria, are being pulled from shelves after an undetected egg allergen was detected.

People who purchased the snack marked with the best before date of 12/10/2026 and who have an egg allergy are advised to not eat the product or risk having a reaction.

“Consumers who have an egg allergy or intolerance should not consume this product,” the recall notice stated.

“Any consumers concerned about their health should seek medical advice.”

The food watchdog is urging anyone who has purchased the affected products to return them to the place of purchase to receive a full refund.

“Consumers should return the product(s) to the place of purchase for a full refund.”

The food recall comes after a portable cot was been pulled from shelves after it failed to meet Australia’s mandatory safety standards for infant sleep products, prompting warnings of a risk or serious injury or death.

The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission recalled the 5-in-1 nursery centre portable cot, which serves as a bassinet, bed, sleeper, baby crib, activity centre and changing table, and is being sold at Costway Wholesale and Amazon.

“This product doesn’t comply with the mandatory standard for infant sleep products,” the ACCC said in a recall alert issued on Friday.

Consumers are urged to check the model number or SKU on their products to see if it matches SKU: BB0505.

Customers who purchased a portacot with the recalled SKU number are told to stop using the product immediately and return it to the place of purchase to arrange replacement free of charge.
