Golden Globes 2026 live updates: Stunning red carpet fashion, Nikki Glaser‘s opening monologue begins

One Battle After Another is absolutely the one to beat this awards season with Teyana Taylor picking up the best supporting actress gong, beating out Amy Madigan, who last week won a Critics Choice for the horror movie Weapons.

An emotional Taylor said in her speech, “To my tribe, my joy, my daily reminder that love is an action, not just the word, and everything I do is rooted in that truth.”

She made special to her community, adding, “Last, but most importantly, to my brown sisters and little brown girls watching tonight, our softenness is not a liability. It’s not too much. Our light does not need permission to shine. We belong in every room we walk into, our voices and matter, and our dreams deserve space.”

Nikki Glaser is fronting up as host of the Golden Globes for a second year running after a successful gig last year.

She starts with roasting the Warner Bros sale as well CBS news which she called “CBS News, America’s newest place to see BS news”. It’s a ballsy joke referencing its political realignment after its acquisition by David Ellison, and considering CBS is the US broadcaster of the Golden Globes.

She had a gentle joke for George Clooney, asking him for help with her Nespresso machine.

There’s the obligatory joke at Leonardo DiCaprio’s expense. “What a career you’ve had. I mean, countless, iconic performances. You’ve worked with every great director, you’ve won three Golden Globes, an Oscar, and the most impressive thing is that you were able to accomplish all of that before your girlfriend turned 30.

“Leo, I’m sorry, babe, that joke. It’s cheap. You know what? I tried not to, but, like, we don’t anything anything else you. Like, there’s nothing. Like, open up. I’m serious!”

DiCaprio smiled and giggled through it like a good sport.

Next up is Sean Penn’s turn. “Sean Penn will actually go to the places in the world that need help the most, and he will do cocaine there. And I feel like we don’t celebrate that. I did get permission to tell that joke from your best friends, Charlie Sheen and El Chapo.”

No monologue is going to be complete without a dig at Timothee Chalamet’s slender frame.

“He’s the first actor in history to have to put on muscle for a movie about ping pong. This is true, he gained over 60 ounces.”
