SkyHelix Sentosa is Singapore’s latest offering and promises previously unseen views of Sentosa Island

Singapore’s latest attraction is set for lift-off just as the Island nation kickstarts its tourism sector following the pandemic. SkyHelix Sentosa, which opens on December 15, is an open air panoramic ride that promises previously unseen views of Sentosa Island. Located at Imbiah Lookout, the ride’s apex is 79m above sea level, making it one of the highest vantage points on Sentosa. Guests will be seated in an open-air gondola with their feet dangling in the air as it gently rotates 360 degrees along a vertical 35m-high helix-like structure. The 12-minute ride includes 10 minutes at the top, during which the gondola will slowly rotate. During the ride, guests can enjoy a cool beverage created for SkyHelix Sentosa by the team behind the acclaimed cocktails at Dusk Restaurant & Bar located at Mount Faber Peak. Although it’s a ride suitable for all ages, guests will have to be at least 105cm tall to safely fit into the seats. The structure is designed and constructed by the French company Aerophile who are world-leading experts on high-point attractions. The carbon neutral attraction is powered by three electrical winches which uses minimal electricity. After sunset, the structure will be lit by LED lighting to further enhance the night-time rides. fact file SkyHelix Sentosa will be open every day from 10am to 9.30pm and costs S$18 per adult and S$15 per child. It’s only open for fully vaccinated travellers and although it can accommodate up to 16 passengers, it will be limited to eight per ride while the current COVID restrictions are in place.
