Keith Coughlan: Thousands raised for Perth man’s funeral after his tragic death in Bali scooter crash

The family of a Perth local killed in a Bali scooter crash at the weekend are working desperately to bring his remains home so they can hold a funeral.

Keith Coughlan’s body was found pinned under his crashed scooter in a drainage ditch on a North Kuta road in the early hours of Sunday morning.

The horrific discovery was made by a local who spotted the vehicle and the victim’s leg before calling authorities.

The 26-year-old Irish national was a mixed martial arts fighter and had recently moved to WA, setting up base in Fremantle.

A GoFundMe page created to help his family with the costs of transporting his body home has raised more than $43,000.

“I am just trying to put a little collection together to help bring Keith home,” a family friend said on the page.

“Anything you guys could share would be greatly appreciated and will be a massive help to Aidan and the family at this unfortunate time.”

Mr Coughlan was the second Australian resident to have died in Bali within a week, after another man plunged to his death at a Seminyak hotel.

The tourist fell from his fourth-storey balcony, with one witness saying she heard screaming and banging on windows about 15 minutes before the man fell.

The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade confirmed its consular officials were providing assistance to the family of the Australian who died but would not comment further on the tragedy.
