West Coast are a strong chance to go into their clash against Greater Western Sydney unchanged after every Eagle who played in the loss to Collingwood flew to Sydney on Friday morning.

Joined by the AFLW side ahead of a historic double header at Engie Stadium on Sunday, Andrew McQualter’s outfit left Perth desperate to avoid a 10th consecutive defeat in their penultimate game of the year.

Young superstars Harley Reid and Willem Duursma were the last to arrive, arriving only 35 minutes before their charter flight was set to leave.

Reid donned a massive compression sock on his left leg, the same one which he struggled on during the defeat the Magpies after he sustained a massive corked quad in the first quarter.

Wingman Hamish Davis was the only potential inclusion to make the trip, with out-of-contract duo Matt Flynn and Harry Schoenberg both left at home and set to play in the WAFL against Peel Thunder down in Mandurah.

McQualter flagged there was unlikely to be sweeping changes after the Eagles’ 19-point defeat to the Magpies despite the WAFL side being in form.

“There’s some guys in good form, but it was also a pretty solid performance in the AFL team,” he said.

“I know we didn’t get the chocolates last week but there was a fair bit to like about the way we went about that game.

“Bloody Nick (Daicos) having 40 and kicking a goal, he was pretty hard to stop. But there was a fair bit about that game that we like, so I don’t think there’ll be wholesale changes.”

Eagles AFLW co-captain Bella Lewis said the Eagles would “come back with eight points on the same plane” as the AFLW side head over for their season opener.

“It’s so exciting. And the mood around the group is exactly that, excitement,” Lewis told The West Australian.

“With it being a travel game as well, the double header with the boys, is a first-time experience, so that’s another element as well that we’re really excited for.

“We’re really grateful we’re one of the clubs that has the opportunity to do it.

“And we love playing the Giants. They’re a really good side for us to play, we like the challenge we’ve faced when we come up against them.

“Hopefully, both teams get the win and we can come back with eight points on the same plane.”
