Danielle Laidley’s end-of-season 2025 player ratings for Fremantle Dockers and West Coast Eagles: Part I

In the first part of our countdown of every Fremantle and West Coast player, we look at the group who had seasons they’d like to improve on ahead of 2026. 57. Noah Long (West Coast): 3.5 Played the first four games of the year as a small forward without grabbing his opportunity, played 10 games, averaging just 7.6 touches, and kicking three goals for the season. After 36 games, a big year in 2026 could decide his future. 56. Tom Gross (West Coast): 3.5 Best game of the year came early against Carlton, having 18 possessions and four inside-50s in a badly-beaten team. Was the activated sub three times and subbed off twice in his eight games. A big pre-season could force a lot more game time in 2026. 55. Bo Allan (West Coast): 3.5 Debuted in round eight against Melbourne. Played six games and struggled with the speed of the game. A big pre-season required to force his way into a defence bolstered in the off season, or get his chance in the midfield. 54. Matt Owies (West Coast): 4 Not a good year being traded into the club for 2025. Played 16 games, averaging just 8.9 touches and only goals, 3 goal assists and didn’t bring the ball inside 50 at the level required for his experience. 53. Jeremy Sharp (Fremantle): 4 Played the first 12 games of the season on a wing, but his output was far below that of 2024, with his disposal count and penetration. Came back for two more games, then was dropped and couldn’t make it back into the team again. 52. Archer Reid (West Coast): 4 Played 14 games in his debut season in the tough position of key forward/second ruck. Showed real smarts with forward craft at stages with his leading and marking, kicking five goals and dishing out eight goal assists. Could be a big improver if he comes back bigger and stronger in 2026. 51. Josh Draper (Fremantle): 4.5 The 31-gamer didn’t continue his development from 2024 as a defender, dropped after a poor performance against St Kilda in round eight. Came back for three games but lost his position in the team again. Didn’t use his natural ability to intercept and rebound from defence. 50. Rhett Bazzo (West Coast): 4.5 Played the last eight games of the year after retirements and injury. Improved his intercept game the more he played, but turned the ball over in games at times. The pressure will be on to develop his game over pre-season, with new defenders coming to the club. 49. Jye Amiss (Fremantle): 5 Kicked 32 goals, with 22 of them against non-finalists. More consistency against the good team required after 71 games. Did play up the ground in later games to give him another string to his bow. 48. Jack Williams (West Coast): 5 42 games now, including 13 in 2025. Kicked 16 goals in a team that won just one game. Was it a consistent lack of opportunities or the player himself? Has talent, but bigger stronger fitter in 2026 is required. 47. Tyrell Dewar (West Coast): 5 Has a huge amount of talent, but must learn to be consistent and stay connected to the play at just 21 and 23 games. Ranked in the top 10 among Rising Star-eligible players for bounces, rebound-50s and metres gained. Massive upside. 46. Hamish Davis (West Coast): 5 Eight games in his debut year, including three as the starting sub, playing mid/forward. Huge learning year. Averaged 10.6 disposals, but just under two clangers per game. 45. Tyler Brockman (West Coast): 5 Round 8 -13 very productive and influenced the team as a mid/forward, being clean around the ball. Can be inconsistent, but just 22 years old and 56 games. 2026 could be the making of him. 44. Jack Hutchinson (West Coast): 5 Works hard and was tried in a number of positions as a forward, inside mid and a winger, but didn’t cement a place. Still only 23 games played, but 2026 will be a very important year. 43. Bailey Williams (West Coast): 5 Works incredibly hard as a ruck/forward. Played 16 games for just 11 goals. Gets his hands to plenty of marking opportunities, but doesn’t make the most of these opportunities in the forward line or around the ground.
