After Snoop Dogg rocked the MCG at the AFL grand final, the NRL has found itself in a panic as its headline halftime act reveals he needs to take time off.

Teddy Swims, a Grammy award-winning artist loved for his songs Lose Control and Bad Dreams, is meant to be performing in Australia this weekend at the NRL grand final, but has stoked fears after he was forced to cancel multiple performances.

Swims was performing in Honolulu on Friday when he had to leave the stage mid-performance due to sickness.

Then, the singer cancelled shows for Saturday and Sunday, revealing his medical team has not cleared him to perform.

“Honolulu, I’m so sorry,” Swims wrote on Instagram, confirming two shows were “cancelled”.

“My doctor has not cleared me to sing, and I need a little time to recover before I can give you the show you deserve.”

Swims was forced to refund tickets for three shows.

“I hate to disappoint you and truly apologise for letting you down,” he wrote.

“Thank you for your love, patience and understanding.

“I can’t wait until I’m back and able to sing for you again.”

According to the Daily Telegraph, the NRL has been forced to contact Swims’ team to seek reassurance as fears grow that he is about to cancel.

On Instagram, Swims posted an image promoting his performance at the grand final, saying the “countdown is on”, which really is the case for his health.

If the grand final act cancels, it will leave the NRL just days to find an alternative who is willing to accept the half time show gig at such short notice.
