Fremantle is officially gripped by Grand Final fever — and local fans are going to absolute extremes to prove their devotion ahead of Saturday’s historic clash.

Lucky supporters strolling through Freo on Monday morning got the ultimate pre-game bonus when they bumped into fan-favourite club legends Hayden Ballantyne and Shaun McManus.

For 20-year member Jeanette Hankinson, it was a moment she’ll never forget.

“I found my two favourite players of all over the years. How cool is that?” Ms Hankinson said.

“I had a selfie with Shaun once at Bunnings a few years ago, but this is better — this one’s got a few more decorations.”

Ms Hankinson, who will be watching the big dance at home alongside her son and grandson — who has been attending games since he was just three years old — said she has total belief in the squad.

“I’m excited and nervous. I’m excited for the guys. I hope they win,” she said.

“Oh yes, I think they can win. They’re a gorgeous bunch of guys.”

She also gave her tick of approval to former star McManus, who will present the premiership cup on Saturday if the Dockers take out the big dance.

“He certainly is the right man to present the cup,” she said.

“Because he’s a special person, and he was a great footballer. He was my favourite.”

Meanwhile, diehard fan RJ Walsh — who has bled purple for all 27 years she’s lived in Perth — is taking her obsession to another level on the roads.

Ms Walsh is the proud owner of a brand-new, purple car affectionately named “Alex” in honour of Dockers captain Alex Pearce - complete with a “Moose” sign displayed across the dash.

“I’ve been a Dockers fan for as long as I’ve lived in Perth,” Ms Walsh said.

“This season, they’ve given us so much. This year has just been absolutely mint.

“I mean, the amount of come-from-behinds, the smothers, the fend-offs... the entertainment has just been so brilliant, and our team, our young men, are just so beautiful.

“Alex is my favourite. In fact, my car is called Alex, and I’ve got the Moose sign on the front. I love Moose, but you know — (Luke) Jackson, (Patrick) Voss, (Murphy) Reid... I mean, really, I could name them all the way through, and I love them all.”

Ms Walsh snapped up custom purple plates off Facebook Marketplace nine months ago before buying the car three months back.

“I knew I wanted this car and I thought if I can get it in purple, why wouldn’t I? And it was available in purple, so that was it,” she said.

“When I’m driving down the Fremantle terrace at the moment or anywhere really, everyone’s beeping.

“After the Geelong game, I was parked right outside Gloucester Park and everyone was coming around the corner going ‘oh my god look at that’, - that was pretty cool.”

Having booked her Melbourne flights back in May, Ms Walsh is buzzing with nervous energy ahead of her Thursday travel.

“I’m so excited, can’t sleep sort of excited — you know, real physical excitement,” she said.

“I’m just enjoying every moment of it because it’s fantastic.”

If the Dockers pull off the ultimate victory on Saturday afternoon, Ms Walsh said her purple ride won’t be her only permanent tribute.

“I already have a purple car, so I will get a tattoo on Saturday if they win,” she said.

“It will be a bit of a stylised Dockers 2026 Grand Final premiers tattoo — it will definitely have the anchor.

“We fly out of Melbourne Sunday and get back mid-afternoon, so I’ll probably be coming straight to Freo for a drink.”

And there is not a doubt in Ms Walsh’s mind that drink will be celebratory.

“I have complete faith they will win on Saturday,” she said.

“Look, it means a lot to the club. It means a lot to every individual supporter. But it’s really about the fact that the club’s done it. You know, they’ve broken the hoodoo. It’s been a long time, and they’ve done it.”
