AFL Watch: Cox pushes for ruck selection, Sharp continues to find the footy and young key forward shines

Mason Cox pushes for ruck selection after best on ground, Jeremy Sharp continues to find the footy in his new role in the middle and young key forward Charlie Nicholls shined in Peel’s 13 point win over East Fremantle at Lane Group Stadium on Friday. Here’s how the 15 Fremantle listed players went for Peel Thunder. Jaren Carr: Moved positions a few times but looked good on the wing. Did get stuck on the cold side of the ground. Mason Cox: Best player on the ground with a dominant performance including 24 disposals, six marks, 45 hit outs and a goal. Hugh Davies: Reliable behind the ball with multiple key moments saving goals. Kept a cool head when under pressure. Joshua Draper: Had a couple flashy moments tucking the ball under the arm and taking people on. Leon Kickett (reserves): Showed great pressure up forward in the twos with eight tackles to with a goal and 12 disposals. Ryda Luke (reserves): Was quiet up forward in the reserves with only six touches and four marks. Ollie Murphy: Looked solid early but an ankle injury in the second quarter hampered him for the rest of the game. Tobyn Murray: Kicked the sealer in the dying minutes and a nice goal on the run from 45 meters out. Charlie Nicholls: Equalled his career high with three goals including the match winner from the 50. Looked more confident in flying for marks. Nathan O’Driscoll: Few turnovers early but speed around the ground and out of stoppage was on show with 22 disposals and six tackles. Jeremy Sharp: The speedster relished his opportunity in the middle, storming out of stoppages leading to 28 disposals and eight inside 50’s. Cooper Simpson: Was quiet in the defence with only 15 touches and one mark, playing more of a lockdown role on multiple forwards. Adam Sweid: Showed great signs with silky tendencies but looked rushed with ball in hand at times, will only get better. Brandon Walker: Coming back from injury was hot and cold throughout the day. Copped a couple knocks here and there. Toby Whan (reserves): One of the sides best in the reserves win with 24 disposals and a goal.
