Fremantle’s home semifinal showdown with Geelong has been confirmed for Friday night lights.

The Dockers will get the chance to avenge their devastating defeat at the hands of Hawthorn on Thursday and book a preliminary final date with Sydney when they meet the Cats for the third time this season.

The bounce will be at 6.10pm, as it was against the Hawks.

More than 59,000 flooded to Optus Stadium for the qualifying final and tickets will be at a premium again this week.

Another loss would see Fremantle become the second minor premier in as many seasons to go out in straight sets after Adelaide in 2025.

The Crows became the last team to lock in a final six berth on Saturday night, seeing off a last-quarter comeback from Western Bulldogs to win their first final in nine years and keep coach Matthew Nicks in the hot seat.

The Dockers have split their two meetings against the Cats this year.

They gave up a lead in round one to fall 10 points short at the Cattery before a narrow nine-point victory at Optus Stadium in round 15 as part of their historic 14-game win streak and unbeaten record in Western Australia during the home-and-away campaign.

The Dockers will be without rebounding halfback Brandon Walker after his surprise recall to play on Nick Watson in the qualifying final having rolled his ankle against the Hawks, but they could regain Brennan Cox from his late-season calf strain.

The Cats also have a decision to make on star winger Max Holmes and if they can step up his game time after he was heavily restricted in his side’s win over Carlton at the MCG on Friday night.

The clash will also be Fremantle forward Sam Switkowski’s last in front of a home crowd after his surprise retirement announcement last week.

The other semifinal will see Brisbane host Adelaide at the Gabba after they were overrun by an undermanned Swans side on Saturday afternoon at the SCG.
