VideoCarlton AFL coach Michael Voss has resigned from his position after a poor start to the season, with the Blues winning only one of their opening nine matches.

Patrick Cripps says he’s “flat” amid Michael Voss’ exit at Carlton, with the Blues skipper finding out about the major development on Monday night.

News broke on Tuesday morning that Voss would be departing Carlton, with a horror one-win start to the season through the first nine matches ultimately forcing a change.

It brought an end to the 103-game coaching career of Voss at the Blues, with 49 wins that included a run to a preliminary final in 2023.

Cripps has been Carlton’s skipper for the entirety of the departed coach’s stint, and revealed as he walked into the club on Tuesday morning that he had been in contact with Voss on Monday night.

“You’ve been a great mentor and a great coach,” Cripps said of his message to Voss when the pair spoke.

“He just let me know before everyone else found out.

Cripps said the coach would address the playing group on Tuesday.

“We’ve been through some good times and also some tough times with him,” Cripps said.

“I’ve got a great relationship with Vossy... I couldn’t speak highly enough of Vossy.”

Assistant coach Josh Fraser is set to take over as interim coach as the Blues begin the hunt for a successor.
