Bush and ‘Burbs: Drew Petrie, Paul Bower, Jon Griffin, Carl Peterson to line up in Perth Football League

North Melbourne great and former West Coast Eagle Drew Petrie is coming to the Perth Football League - and he’s not the only ex-AFL player. The 38-year-old has been cleared to Cottesloe and is expected to play several matches for the C3-Grade outfit. The versatile tall, who played 332 matches for the Kangas (316) and Eagles (16), hasn’t featured at any level since his WAFL cameo in 2019. He will bring a wealth of experience to the Roosters. Former Fremantle, Adelaide and East Fremantle big man Jon Griffin is another exciting addition to the competition, signing with top-grade side North Fremantle. Griffin retired from the WAFL last season and will link up with fellow Sharks product Shane Woewodin who is coaching the Maggies. He has already started pre-season training at Gil Fraser Reserve. High-flying ex-Hawthorn forward Carl Peterson will take his talents to SNESA in the C2 Grade. Peterson, 33, started his career at Richmond before switching to the Hawks, playing under coaching mastermind Alastair Clarkson 17 times. SNESA confirmed the news on their Facebook page. Fellow 2006 AFL draft Paul Bower has switched Perth Football League clubs from Warnbro Swans to Bullcreek-Leeming. The 33-year-old former Carlton defender was considering a return to WAFL ranks for the first time in eight seasons before deciding to stay in the ammos. Bower played 70 matches for the Blues from 2006-12. He will join ex-Essendon swingman Kyle Hardingham at Beasley Oval. Hardingham re-joined his junior club as playing coach this summer after a decade in Melbourne and is apparently training the house down. Alex Rance, David Ellard (Swan Valley), Ryan Hargrave (Gosnells) and Nic Reid (North Beach) are some of the other big-name Perth Football League signings for 2021.
