Jordan De Goey to miss clash with Fremantle Dockers after one-match ban for bump on Clayton Oliver

Collingwood is set to face a hungry Fremantle side without Jordan De Goey, after the star Pie was offered a one-match ban for a high bump on Melbourne’s Clayton Oliver.

De Goey was one of the best afield as the Magpies defeated the ladder-leading Demons in Nathan Buckley’s final game as coach on Monday.

He notched up 32 disposals and six clearances in the 17-point upset win.

But the bump on Oliver, where De Goey ran through and clipped him in the face with his shoulder, sending the Demon spinning into the turf, has resulted in a one-match suspension.

The 25-year-old likely benefited from Oliver’s ability to get up and take his kick, but the incident was still deemed careless conduct, medium impact, and high contact by AFL’s Match Review Panel.

The Game AFL 2024

If Collingwood accept the ban, De Goey will not return until round 15, as the Pies have a bye this weekend, before facing Fremantle on June 26, scheduled for Marvel Stadium.

All-Australian defender Darcy Moore could also miss next week’s game, after suffering a knee injury against Melbourne.

It is understood to be a potential PCL, which could sideline the star for at least a month, according to the Herald Sun.

If confirmed, Moore could miss the rest of 2021, but that is understood to be a worst-case scenario.

The Dockers will be eager to collect a win on the road and keep the door to finals ajar, with the club sitting just four points out of the eight, behind Richmond, on six wins and seven losses for the season.
