Gold Coast are breathing a sigh of relief after captain Noah Anderson avoided injury despite a heavy collision with Geelong star Tom Stewart.

Across town, Brisbane defender Brandon Starcevich is in line to play his first game since round one after overcoming concussion.

Suns skipper Anderson was taken to the hospital for scans on his chest region after a crunching bump from Stewart in the fourth quarter of the Cats' 24-point win.

The midfielder was cleared of concussion, but eventually taken to the change rooms after being assessed by medical staff.

His visit to the hospital was precautionary, with Gold Coast confirming on Tuesday that scans had cleared him of injury.

Anderson is expected to be able to play against GWS in round 15 after the club's bye this weekend.

Stewart did not receive a ban for the incident, given the match review officer did not view the contact as high.

Gold Coast are also expecting to welcome back midfielder Lachie Weller from a hamstring injury.

Weller has not played since the Suns' round-eight loss to rivals Brisbane.

Premiership defender Starcevich has put his hand up for Brisbane's match against GWS on Saturday after overcoming three concussions in eight months.

Sam Day (hamstring) and Darcy Gardiner (knee) are also in contention, while Oscar McInerney continues to manage soreness.

Port Adelaide are set to regain Jason Horne-Francis (hamstring) against Melbourne, with Adelaide defender Nick Murray (knee) also available.

Among tests this week are Geelong pair Bailey Smith (hamstring) and Shannon Neale (ankle), and GWS trio Toby Greene (glute), Finn Callaghan (shoulder) and Leek Aleer (ribs).

But the Giants will be without Cody Angove after the first-year player suffered a season-ending stress fracture in his back.

Angove, whose two-year contract extension was announced on Tuesday, debuted in round nine and held onto his spot for four games before the injury.

Already contracted for next season, the 19-year-old will stay at the Giants until at least the end of 2028.

North Melbourne defender Charlie Comben will be ruled out of action for at least three weeks after scans revealed a small crack in his shoulder blade.

Comben had received a knee to his shoulder in a third-quarter marking contest in North's win over West Coast.
