Fremantle Dockers ruck Liam Reidy reportedly on radar of Carlton as Blues set to bid farewell to Tom De Koning

Out-of-contract and out-of-favour Fremantle ruck Liam Reidy is reportedly on the radar of rival club Carlton. The Blues on Wednesday confirmed that free agent Tom De Koning has requested a move to St Kilda next year, with the club now on the hunt for big men to bolster their ruck stocks. Reidy is one of a number of Dockers who could seek more opportunities outside Cockburn next year, after being locked behind Luke Jackson and Sean Darcy in the ruck pecking order this season. It comes after Reidy told The West Australian it had been “frustrating” to spent almost the entire season in the WAFL. “It’s frustrating, but I just look at how can I improve every day, in every game, how can I get better,” Reidy said. “I just try and compare myself to myself and put my best foot forward every day. “I do get a bit of (opposition) attention, but I’m used to it. I welcome it now, it gets me into the game.” Despite strong form in the WAFL for Peel Thunder, the 25-year-old only played one game for Fremantle in 2025 - the heavy round one defeat to Geelong - despite both Darcy and Jackson missing games this year. AFL.com.au’s Cal Twomey reported the Blues have “shown interest” Reidy as a back-up for veteran ruck Marc Pittonet, as well as Hawthorn’s Ned Reeves, with Lloyd Meek and Mabior Chol ahead of him at the Hawks. Reidy, who was drafted to Fremantle as a mature-ager in 2023, has only played three games for the Dockers across his three seasons at the club. And he’s not the only Docker being chased by other clubs, with midfielder and former top-10 pick Neil Erasmus scouted by West Coast and the Western Bulldogs. Erasmus has played 38 games for the Dockers since debuting in 2022, including a career-high 15 this season. The 21-year-old has played the last five games ahead of the club’s elimination final.
