Fremantle club legend Paul Hasleby is backing West Coast to finish inside the top four despite the Eagles poor form in the Gold Coast hub.

Hasleby, who played 208 games for the Dockers over a 10-year career, said “things had changed” at West Coast following the stirring 34-point win over Sydney last Saturday.

The Eagles had lost three straight, failing to kick more than six goals a game in losses to Gold Coast, Brisbane and Port Adelaide.

But with games now outside of Victoria due to the State’s ongoing coronavirus crisis, Hasleby said the Eagles run of home games will see them march up the ladder.

And he predicted Collingwood could battle to even make the eight, while Gold Coast – currently sitting sixth – will miss out completely.

“I’m going to take a look at my predicted top seven, it’s a very difficult exercise with all these teams in hubs,” he said on Sportsday WA.

“(I have) Collingwood, Hawthorn and the Western Bulldogs fighting for eighth position.

“At number seven I like St Kilda. I think they continue their good form. If they get a win against the Fremantle Dockers which I expect them to do, they find themselves in a very good situation.

“At number four, who would have thought I’d have the West Coast Eagles inside the top four but things have changed.

“They win against Adelaide (this weekend), they come back (to WA) three and three and could have seven games in a row back here.

“I can’t see them losing too many against hub teams in the west.”

Hasleby predicted Port Adelaide to finish third with GWS in second and Brisbane top of the table.

“The way (the Lions) are playing is fantastic to see so much action inside their own forward 50 so Brisbane number one for me,” he said.

HASLEBY’S PREDICTED TOP EIGHT

1. Brisbane

2. GWS

3. Port Adelaide

4. West Coast

5. Essendon

6. Geelong

7. St Kilda

8. Collingwood/Hawthorn/Western Bulldogs
