Busselton product Damon Greaves will make his debut for Hawthorn against St Kilda at Metricon Stadium tomorrow.

Greaves, who was taken in the rookie draft two years ago, was named as one of seven changes for the Hawks as they look to the future.

Hawthorn football manager Graham Wright said it was time to trial personnel and positional changes.

“Given that finals are off the cards, this is a great opportunity to get some senior experience into some of our up and coming youngsters,” Wright said.

“Damon in particular is a really positive story. He’s been at the club for nearly two years now and the development and hard work he’s put in over that period has been fantastic.”

Greaves is a 186cm rebounding defender from East Perth who grew up supporting Fremantle.

The 20-year-old said he was both excited and nervous.

“My kicking skills and my running capabilities are my strengths, as well as my one-on-one defending and just provide the drive off half-back,” Greaves said.

“I’ve had some experience at the AFL level through the JLT Series this year. I’ve had to wait a bit to get my opportunity, so I think I’m well prepared for when it comes.”
