The Nationals are looking for a new federal director after Jonathan Hawkes signalled he will not be seeking a renewal of his contract.

Mr Hawkes has led the party organisation for three years.

“His team spirit and leadership was particularly evident in the Nationals returning all of our members and adding two more senators to our party room in a most difficult election that saw a change in government but success for the Nationals,” party federal president Kay Hull said in a statement on Monday.

She said Mr Hawkes had given “total loyalty and committed service” to the party.

The party’s federal management committee will discuss the process to be undertaken for a new director at its meeting in mid-August.
