Israeli authorities say six people have died after being shot in a suspected terrorist attack in Jerusalem on Monday.

Initial reports said four people had died in the attack, but paramedics then confirmed a fifth person died in hospital.

Now, Israel’s foreign defence minister, Gideon Saar says a sixth person has died.

Israel’s emergency service has confirmed that at least two gunmen shot at people in the Ramot Junction on Yigal Yadin Street.

One of the victims was a man in his 50s and three others were people in their 30s.

Police said the shooters have been “neutralised”, meaning they were shot dead on the scene.

Paramedics have reported that a further nine people were shot. Six people are in a serious condition, and other people were injured from broken glass.

“At 10:13 am (0713 GMT), reports were received... about approximately 15 injured, apparently from gunfire, at the Ramot Junction on Yigal Yadin Street in Jerusalem,” a statement by Israel’s Magen David Adom ambulance service said.

It later said paramedics and ambulance crews were providing medical treatment and evacuating “seriously wounded people” who had been sent to hospitals in Jerusalem.

“Several other victims, with varying degrees of injury, are also being treated at the scene,” it added.

Israeli media reported that the attack had targeted a bus, among other targets.

The identities of the victims are yet to be confirmed.
