Brantley Worley: Manhunt for Timothy Ramsey after Georgia cop shot in the throat

A massive manhunt is underway after a senior police officer was shot in the throat.
Authorities in the US state of Georgia are combing areas in McCaysville near the Tennessee border, after police captain Brantley Worley, was shot on Friday at 11.10pm (local time) while responding to a distress call.
The shooter, who has been identified as 26-year-old Timothy Craig Ramsey, is still on the run.
Worley was airlifted to hospital and is alive but is believed to be in critical condition.
Worley’s wife, Jessica, confirmed her husband’s condition, saying that she was with him in the intensive care unit and pledged to stay with him until he comes home.
Authorities fear the worst if the suspect is cornered and have warned he is “armed” and “extremely dangerous”.
Chief of Police Otis Earley told WIS10 that Officer Worley has a broken neck and is suffering from brain bleeding. He also has fluid in his lungs.
“Captain Worley is a dedicated officer who has faithfully served this community, and we are asking everyone to keep him, his family, and our department in your thoughts and prayers during this very difficult time,” Earley said via a statement.
Georgia Governor Brian Kemp spoke via social media to express his concerns over the incident
“Marty, the girls, and I are asking all Georgians to join us in praying for this officer who was shot in the line of duty, as well as all law enforcement who face this kind of danger on a regular basis to protect their communities,” Kemp said.
Worley was recently promoted after 15-year-long career in law enforcement and is a certified field training officer and a firearms instructor.
