If you felt quite the chill this morning, you’re not alone.

Perth shivered through its coldest morning in two years with the Bureau of Meteorology’s city station recording just 3.2 degrees.

This temperature was previously felt back in the same month in 2023.

But it was even colder for those heading on an early flight, with the mercury reaching just 1.6 degrees at Perth Airport just after 7am,

It’s not the coldest Perth has felt, that was back in 2006 on June 17 when the temperature dropped to a frosty -0.7 degrees.

The average minimum temperature for this time of year is 8.1 degrees, well above what was felt this morning.

But spare a thought for our friends in the country. The coldest temperatures were felt in the South West, where Collie dropped down to -0.2 just before 8am while Bridgetown dropped to 0.5 degrees just after 7am.

Bureau of meteorology forecaster Patch Clapp said the conditions followed the cold front that crossed through on the weekend.

“It’s the cold front kind of leading into a cold air mask and then the settled conditions with clear skies tend to give us these cold mornings,” he said.

Perth is set for cold mornings for the remainder of the working week, with the temperature forecast to drop as low as five degrees.
