Warnbro train station death: WA Police investigate after man struck by train near platform south of Perth

A man has died after he was struck by a train south of Perth on Monday night. Firefighters were tasked to perform a major rescue at Warnbro station following reports a man was hit by a train around 8.30pm. Police say the incident occurred adjacent to the platform. Despite the efforts of emergency services, the man — who suffered critical injuries — couldn’t be saved. The RAC rescue chopper was initially tasked to the scene before it was stood down. The circumstances of the incident are subject to an investigation by WA police as multiple ambulances and firefighters remain at the scene. It is understood police were also in attendance to support Transperth staff and other emergency services personnel impacted by the incident. Trains running on the Mandurah line between Rockingham and Mandurah were cancelled on Monday night following the incident. Replacement buses are now scheduled to alleviate the delays. “Please allow extra travelling time and be aware that replacement buses may not connect with timetabled bus and train services,” Transperth said.
