Perth has been blanketed by a thick layer of fog this morning.

Only the tops of skyscrapers in the Perth CBD could be seen poking above the fog.

The Bureau of Meteorology said the fog had formed due to light winds and moisture.

Main Roads issued a warning to motorists this morning that the fog was reducing visibility across a number of suburbs.

BOM shared a satellite image this morning, showing the “branching” where the fog gathered in the valleys.

The white-out even affected visibility ahead of the Fremantle Dockers training session this morning.

BOM said the fog is expected to clear later today.

It was another freezing morning with temperatures dipping to below 3C, though was positively balmy compared with yesterday’s bitterly cold dip when Perth dropped to 1.9C — the coldest we had experienced in two years.

Thankfully temperatures are expected to warm up over the next few days.
