The Frontline 2020 Metropolitan Police Operating Model is ensuring more efficient policing thanks to the opportunity for direct contact with local policing teams, according to Kwinana acting Senior Sergeant Dan Anderson.

Sen. Sgt Anderson said the model, which was introduced in September last year, assigned police officers to individual suburbs and provided residents and business owners a direct line of communication for non-emergency situations.

"We felt that something needed to change as we were not keeping up with the demand," he said.

"We have adopted a different way of policing and, of course, we are still ironing out kinks, but long-term we can see a reduction in crime. We can always improve, but the new model is working."

Sen. Sgt Anderson said Kwinana Police covered a large area and while the model was relatively new and had experienced some development issues, it had so far proved useful in its implementation.

He said the Kwinana local policing team would host a forum for businesses at Darius Wells Library and Resource Centre next Wednesday. Call Kwinana Police Station on 94114300.
