Football clubs kicks goals in education
Rockingham Rams FC is working hard to become the best community club in the Peel Football League by committing to host the Sports Education and Development Australia Fremantle Dockers Sports Development Program at the club in 2016.
SEDA is an education program that exists to engage and educate young people who have an interest in sport as they transition from school to employment or further study.
SEDA program co-ordinator Rocky Collins said the Rockingham Rams FC were supportive of local education and it was an exciting opportunity for Year 11 and 12 students in the Rockingham and surrounding communities to attend the sports program at Anniversary Park.
"The Rams hope to provide the students with some unique experiences and opportunities and hope to increase the connectedness between our young people and their community," he said.
"Students will have the chance to volunteer in things like the Rockingham Rams AusKick program, match-day roles and events, community days and other exciting opportunities."
Mr Collins said SEDA's program was established in WA in 2013 to meet the needs of young people whose education preference was for an applied and context relevant learning experience.
