VideoBroadcasting legend Dennis Cometti has been farewelled with a state memorial service at Perth's Optus Stadium. Footy mates and colleagues spoke including long-time friend Bruce McAvaney.

The nation farewelled long-time Seven Network sport broadcaster Dennis Cometti, with the legendary caller honoured in a State memorial service.

The service took place on Monday in the Riverview Room at Optus Stadium — the ground where Cometti has the media centre named in his honour.

The service was attended by dignitaries including WA Premier Roger Cook and State Opposition Leader and former colleague Basil Zempilas, with acclaimed broadcaster Bruce McAvaney delivering touching tribute to his long-time colleague and friend.
