Craigie man charged with allegedly driving his ute into a Wangara speed camera after being flashed

Police have charged a man after he allegedly drove his ute into a speed camera in Wangara after it clocked him allegedly speeding.
Traffic cops says the 50-year-old from Craigie was driving his Holden Rodeo west on Ocean Reef Road near Brady Street at 6.55pm on Thursday when a mobile camera detected the vehicle travelling in excess of the posted speed limit.
It is alleged the driver did a U-turn, drove back to the camera and intentionally collided with the equipment, badly damaging it.
It is further alleged he failed to stop at the scene, or report the incident. The man was arrested on Friday. Charges included speeding, dangerous driving and criminal damage.
He was released on bail and was due to appear in the Joondalup Magistrates Court on October 10.
