Child injured after being hit by car outside St Peter’s Primary School in Inglewood

A child was taken to hospital after being hit by a car outside a primary school in Perth’s north.

Two St John Ambulance crews were sent to St Peter’s Primary School in Inglewood under priority one just after 8.30am on Tuesday.

Police said a grey Volkswagen Tiguan station sedan collided with a male child on Wood Street, near Buller Street.

St John Ambulance took the boy to Perth Children’s Hospital for assessment. The driver remained at the scene to assist police.

No charges have been laid and inquiries remain ongoing.

Principal Daine Burnett later advised parents about the incident.

“At the time of the incident, traffic was travelling at very low speed. The student involved was attended to by St John Ambulance and is not in a serious or critical condition,” Mr Burnett said in a letter.

“My immediate priority has been the care of the student involved, their family, and members of our school community who may have witnessed the incident.

“Today’s incident is a timely reminder for all members of our community to exercise particular care during school drop-off and pick-up times.”

Parents were told emergency response procedures were followed and police attended the scene as required.
