Breakdowns and crashes have caused commuters chaos in both directions of Kwinana Freeway, with traffic banked up for kilometres.

A minor crash on Kwinana Freeway southbound prior to Mill Point Road in South Perth has caused bumper-to-bumper traffic all the way to Hay Street.

The right lane was blocked as towing services were on site. The crash is now cleared but traffic is slow.

Meanwhile, a truck breakdown on Kwinana Freeway northbound after Roe Highway in North Lake has blocked the right lane.

Towing services are on the scene and traffic is moving slowly.

Main Roads WA has urged motorists to drive with caution.
