Mitchell Freeway northbound reopens after fatal incident on Sunday morning involving pedestrian

The Mitchell Freeway reopened on Sunday afternoon after being shut for nearly 12 hours following a fatal incident.

Major crash investigators say a pedestrian was struck by a car heading northbound near the Cedric Street overpass about 3.25am on Sunday.

Main Roads said the northbound lanes of the Mitchell Freeway between Cedric Street and Karrinyup Road were closed before reopening about 2.15pm.

It is understood the freeway was closed as part of the police investigation.

Traffic remains heavy in the area, including on Scarborough Beach Road.
