Freeway crashes and fog are making life difficult for Perth commuters this morning.

Southbound traffic on the Mitchell Freeway is backed up all the way to Karrinyup Road following a crash near Hay Street in the Perth CBD.

The crash is now cleared but a Main Roads spokesperson said traffic was still moving extremely slow.

Traffic is also slow on Kwinana Freeway southbound after an earlier crash near Mill Point Road in South Perth.

Meanwhile, motorists in Perth’s east are being urged to drive carefully due to thick fog in the area.

The fog is thickest on Tonkin Highway from Gnangara Road to Guildford Road and drivers are being urged to drive to conditions.

The Bureau of Meteorology expects the fog to clear by 10am.
