A popular ice cream shop with stores in Boyanup and the Bunbury CBD have jumped on board to help out the Salvation Army’s 2021 Red Shield Appeal.

Bean and Cone has pledged to donate $1 from every sale of their bubblegum ice cream to the appeal, which helps the Salvos support locals doing it tough.

Bean and Cone owner Marg Adams said getting involved was a no-brainer.

“We love supporting the Salvation Army, we came on board with the Red Shield Appeal two years ago and we have helped out a few other things,” she said.

“The work that these guys do is outstanding so we will do whatever we can.

“By doing the dollar for every cup or cone, it’s great because the kids come in, the kids are buying them and it is just about helping out.”

The promotion runs for the length of the appeal, which finishes on May 30, and donations can be made at both stores.

Salvation Army regional Mark Schatz said he was thrilled to have Bean and Cone involved.

“We want businesses to have socially minded and community minded approaches to everything and the Bean and Cone partnered with us to do this for our community,” he said.

“Eating gelato and raising money for the Salvation Army, it doesn’t get much better than that.

“You come in and get your treat but you are also supporting local people.”
