The search for a missing Pemberton father-of-three has taken a shocking twist after homicide squad detectives arrived in the South West to assist with the investigation.

Tony Ditri hasn’t been seen for over 48 hours, with the search stretching into its third day tomorrow, with friends claiming he has vanished in “extremely unusual circumstances.”

Earlier today homicide squad detectives drove to the southern town from Perth to help local police with their search.

It remains unclear as to why they have joined the investigation.

The 40-year-old was last seen leaving Guppy Street on Friday afternoon, with his bogged white Isuzu truck later found in bushland, about 20km from the town.

Close to a thousand locals have joined in the search led by WA Police and State Emergency Service personnel.

“Surreal day today searching the bush for a sign or clue that can point us in the direction of Tony,” one friend said.

“Extremely unusual circumstances — Tony is one of the most genuine humans you will ever meet.

“Someone knows something and if you do please report it to the police.”

The man said Mr Ditri’s loved ones were “very concerned”, while others told The West Australian his disappearance was out of character.

“He is extremely well-known, loved and respected,” local business owner Susanne Peet said.

“He is one of the pioneering people in Pemberton ... there are streets in town named after his family.

“We are just hoping and praying he is found safe and well.”

The search for the father of three has been called off for tonight and is expected to start back up first light tomorrow.

Mr Ditri is described as fair skinned and about 170cm tall with a medium build and short brown hair.

Police hold concerns for his welfare and urge anyone who has seen Mr Ditri or has information regarding his whereabouts to contact police on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
