Teigan Lee Liddell: Rockingham magistrate fines mother-of-two over ‘childish’ vandalism on ex-partner’s car

A magistrate has declared a mother of two “childish” after she vandalised her former partner’s car, spray-painting “dog” and other phrases on his car. Teigan Lee Liddell, 28, appeared before Rockingham Magistrates Court on Friday pleading guilty to one count of criminal damage. Police prosecutor Sen. Const. Jessica Anderson told the court that Liddell and the victim were previously in a relationship and share two children together. On January 6, 2023, the victim received a Facebook message from Liddell saying: “Enjoy your new car.” Liddell sent further messages to the victim, including images of his car with the word “dog” spray-painted in pink across the windshield and “piece of dog s...” written on the side and rear of the car. Legal aid lawyer Claudia Smilovitis said Liddell and the victim ended their relationship a year ago after finding out the victim had been cheating on her. “She acted out of emotion and wanted her family back together,” she said. Magistrate Steven Malley questioned Liddell’s behaviour. “What did this achieve . . . childish isn’t it? Momentary satisfaction and here you are,” he said. “I’m not necessarily saying that he was the more mature person, but it doesn’t particularly paint you in a good light.” Liddell was fined $1000 and ordered to pay court costs of $137.
