Tahlee Nicole Stewart fined for fraud plot and drug charges

A Warnbro woman who tried to defraud a man by registering for a debit card in his name has been fined $1500 following a police raid on her home. Tahlee Nicole Stewart, 29, appeared before Rockingham Magistrates Court on Friday pleading guilty to one count of obtain property from a person by fraud, one count of possess a prohibited drug (methylamphetamine), one count of possess a prohibited drug (cannabis), one count of possessed drug paraphernalia in or on which there was a prohibited drug or plant and one count of fail to obey order given by an officer. Prosector Sen. Const. Mick Fallows told the court that about 8.15am on January 15, Stewart had applied for a debit card with ING bank under a false identity, using an email address and phone number that wasn’t the victim’s. The victim was notified by the bank, and denied having requested the debit card. Stewart was arrested and taken to Rockingham Police Station for questioning, where she declined to participate in an interview and was served with a search warrant. A police search located 0.2 grams of meth, nine grams of cannabis and two glass smoking implements with traces of meth. Police served her with an order to allow them access to her mobile phone, as they believed it contained evidence of attempted fraud. She refused to provide the phone password, telling officers: “I don’t want anyone going through my phone.” Before sentencing, Magistrate Anne Longden asked Stewart if she wanted the matters to go before the Drug Court. Stewart replied: “No, I just want to get it over and done with . . . I have more serious matters in Fremantle court.” She was fined $1,500 and ordered to pay court costs of $137.
