Over the past three months, Shacks Motor Group set aside $50 from every new vehicle sold, contributing to a $12,500 donation to the Volunteer Fire and Rescue Services.

Shacks spokesperson Kelly Kinahan said the business was thrilled to present the donation at the Rockingham Kwinana Chamber of Commerce After Hours event it hosted on June 17.

This initiative hits very close to home for us,” Ms Kinahan said.

“During this past fire season, the Rockingham and Warnbro areas were deeply impacted by severe bushfires. It was an incredibly tense time that directly threatened the homes of our customers, our colleagues, and our families — we even had several team members who had to leave work to actively defend their properties.”

Ms Kinahan said watching the community face that danger left the group inspired and determined to find a way to give back.

“We wanted to find a meaningful way to honour and support the incredible volunteer heroes who selflessly risk their lives and sacrifice their time to keep our local community safe,” she said.

“To make a truly significant contribution, we committed to allocating $50 from every single new vehicle delivered across our four brands—Mazda, Geely, GMSV, and Volkswagen.”

VFRS executive officer Tim Sonsee said he felt privileged to attend the event.

“As the association being gifted with such a generous donation, we felt grateful and truly humbled by the generosity of Shacks Motors,” Mr Sonsee said.

“Their team, like ours, are rich in history, values their people, and understands the value of community and those who serve others within their community.”

Mr Sonsee said he also wanted to note the Shacks employees who were volunteer firefighters.

“They were released from their work to go and undertake their role in firefighting when called upon,” he said.

“This is another reflection of the true values of Shacks motor group organisation.

“We look forward to sharing with Shacks the impact this donation has and their ongoing work in supporting these brigades.”
