Rockingham Flames women double down with sixth straight win to Kalamunda Eastern Suns

The Rockingham Flames women’s team secured their sixth consecutive victory on Saturday night, beating the Kalamunda Eastern Suns 102-90 at home. Rockingham have been in impressive form this season, while the Suns have struggled for momentum, suffering five straight losses. Rockingham led the first quarter by 26 points to 22, but the Suns acted fast to produce a strong second quarter and led 52-44 half-time. The Flames responded strongly with a 36-point third quarter which set them up for the eventual 12-point victory. Rockingham Flames now sit at 6-3 wins, while Kalamunda have lost six in a row to be 3-7. Mehryn Kraker proved unstoppable for the Flames with 29 points, five rebounds, four assists and two steals while knocking down 6/8 of her three-point attempts. Tayah Burrows added 25 points, five assists and three rebounds and Christina Boag 15 points, 11 boards, three assists and two steals. Eastern Suns Sam Roscoe finished the night with 27 points and nine rebounds on 11/19, Makailah Dyer contributed 25 points, five rebounds and five assists, and Natalie Chou 20 points, eight boards, four assists and three steals. The Rockingham Flames will face the Mandurah Magic at the Mandurah Aquatic and Recreation Centre on Friday June 2 at 6.30pm and the South West Slammers on Saturday June 3 at 6pm.
